The smooth, wide, flat jaw surface and thin tip are ideal for pulling and pushing of flat componints.  The sharp angles on the sides of the jaws are best for bending metal sheet and wire beyond 90 degrees.  Strong, unhardened jaws can be filed into custom shapes.
